The
Hong Kong Guild of Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists is an
exclusive and non-profit body dedicated to maintaining a high
standard of professionalism amongst its members committed
to ongoing training and as well maintain hypnotherapists directories
for HK and world-wide hypnotherapists.
Each of our members is known to have received through training
in hypnosis and hypnotherapy, is competent and conscientious,
and abides strictly by the code of ethics. They are also committed
to ongoing training and supervision, thus ensuring that you
receive a safe and sound therapy.
The qualification letters you will see after each practitioner's
name indicates their standing in the Guild:
- 'LGHP' (Licentiate) shows a level of competence that
may address many difficulties like stress, exam fears,
self-confidence issues, smoking cessation, etc.
- 'MGHP' (Member) shows that the member has completed
an advanced training course and is qualified to deal with
most problems. Has fulfilled all of the requirements for
Licentiate and has completed a total of two hundred (250)
hours instruction in hypnosis /psychotherapy from a school
approved by the Hong Kong Guild of Hypnotherapist and
Psychotherapist.
- 'FGHP' (Fellow) is reserved for those individuals at
the top of the profession, who are able to work in a variety
of ways and with the highest level of skill and expertise
or fellows who have made an outstanding contribution to
hypnotherapy.
(For member who is only trained in psychotherapy, (Psy.)
will be stated at the end of the qualification letters
shown above.)
All Members of the Hong Kong Guild of Hypnotherapists
and Psychotherapists must comply with our comprehensive
Practicsing Agreement, which sets standards for supervision,
peer support, contracts and record keeping. This agreement
also ensures that our members keep us fully informed about
their professional qualifications and should give you
confidence in the professionalism of your therapist. Any
complaint against a member will be thoroughly investigated
and any necessary action taken to ensure the continued
integrity of the Guild. In conclusion, the Hong Kong Guild
of Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists promote the highest
professional standards at all times. We hold ourselves
accountable, both to our members, and to the general public,
for ensuring that hypnotherapy is a safe, ethical and
well-trained profession. The Guild is not run for profit,
paying only an administrator's salary, with all other
monies used to support the Guild and help it to grow.
We aim to be ethical, open, and transparent in all our
procedures
The Guild has a panel of advisors drawn from medicine,
academia, counselling, clinical psychotherapy, and professional
hypnotherapy. The Hong Kong Guild of Hypnotherapists and
Psychotherapists also provides the following facilities
for its members: Registration Of Membership at various
levels to reflect individual practitioners' status and
expertise. All assessment procedures for members are FREE,
and membership dues are small. The Hong Kong Guild of
Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists is the fastest growing
professional organisation for practising hypnotherapists
in the HK today. Furthermore, although we offer full facilities
for the accreditation of Training Schools and Courses,
the Guild remains completely independent from such training
- an essential prerequisite for any representative body.
From 2008, Hong Kong Hypnosis Smoke Cessation Association
became one of our member association.
